Tips for Packing Clothes for International Travel

June 13, 2013 by tanha71

If you want to travel unhampered throughout the world, the best way is to pack all of your clothing and other necessities in a single bag. Whether you choose to pack a carry-on suitcase or a traditional suitcase, you can capitalize your travel pleasure by packing your clothes carefully.

Family with luggage

General Rules
Bring out the clothes you consider you’ll need for the trip, and then take only half with you. You must keep extra room in your luggage for any special souvenirs that you buy on the trip. No matter what garments you bring, carry dresses that are easy to wash and drip-dry. This time-saving practice is relevant whether you’re staying in an intimate bed-and-breakfast or a five-star hotel suite. You must also strive to carry clothes that don’t typically require ironing. Though most hotels provide irons, it saves time not to have to press clothes before going out for sightseeing.

Saving Space
Roll your clothes rather than folding them when planning an international trip. This saves space, allowing you to bring more clothing and still keep room for those mementos. You must also put some plastic bags in your baggage to help you separate clean clothes from dirty ones during your voyage. Also, doesn’t waste valuable space with toiletries since all hotels provide ample quantities of toiletries for free and you can save the scope for clothes and other necessities.

Essentials
Whether you’re planning dining your sweetheart near the Eiffel Tower or trekking in the Himalayas, you need to prepare for both types of travel. Bring one nice outfit even if you don’t think you’ll need it; you never know what your journey could bring your way. Even if you’re not a hard-core hiker, it is essential to carry comfortable walking shoes.

You must also incorporate an umbrella and a towel. Whilst these aren’t technically clothing items, they are essentials that can greatly augment your trip. Of course, hotels provide towels, but if you get drenched by an unexpected downpour or humidity you can clean yourself off quite quickly.

Hope these tips will help you and enhance your vacation to the fullest. We wish you a joyful traveling!

If you are materializing your plans to study abroad and spend a year or more in USA, you’ll need a student medical insurance cover. Pursuing education in a foreign university is a big decision and involves a lot of time and money. Most of the students apply for scholarships and loans to get admission at a distant location. Apart from tuition fees, there are other living expenses to take care of. In the midst of managing these expenses, you don’t want to put any more pressure on your wallet in case of any medical attention. This is why there are many independent insurance agencies that provide medical coverage to students staying in USA.

Health insurance is a part of many universities and complete information about the premium, services and amount covered is provided at the time of admission. However, you can also opt for a health insurance elsewhere by doing your own research in this field. Check various online portals offering various services and giving a quotation as per your age and stay period. You can compare the benefits of all the student insurance programs offered by independent agencies and choose what’s best for you. It’s better to search for reviews for the company you are choosing to know their reputation. Once you are insured, you need to carry your insurers’ id card along with you at all times during your stay in USA to avail the benefits.
Before you decide the company and make payment, you must verify with the company representative if you are covered under accident and illnesses. Also verify the services covered under illnesses like doctor or hospital visitation charges, prescribed drugs, x-ray, ICU etc. Most companies will have different limits for both accident and illness ranging from $50,000 to $250000 depending on your premium package. Your health insurance not only lightens the weight on your wallet but also gives a sense of safety to you and your family.

Is studying and part-time job taking a toll on your health?

December 25, 2012 by tanha71

Life can be very exciting when you are able to earn your pocket money and don’t have to ask anyone else for basic expenses. Juggling from college to job every day and taking time out for self- study can soon suck up the initial excitement and make life stressful. If you feel tired most of the times, it is because you are so busy doing daily activities that you have stopped taking care of your health. Eating nutritious food at regular intervals with many glasses of water a day is what it takes to keep the energy level up and enthusiasm intact.

Try and incorporate some simple steps in your routine to feel the change:
1. Replace your morning cup of coffee with a glass of warm water with or without lemon juice. You’ll feel much fresh and re-energized by cutting down on caffeine drinks. It’s not easy to give up old habits, like we all say, easier said than done, but there is no harm trying.
2. Cut down on the over-the counter snack with a fruit or home prepared sandwich. These changes cannot happen overnight and you don’t have to worry if you are not being able to do it everyday. It takes time to change habits and once you observe your energy level better than before, that will be your driving force.
3. Sit and eat: Mealtimes are not part of job; they are your personal time to relax and chew on your food. Spending 15 to 20 minutes to sit down and eat your food doesn’t sound much, but is a very important investment in your health.
4. Drink lot of water and spend quality family time. Eating dinner together and talking about your day will make you feel happy.
5. Fresh and colorful veggies, soups and salads are great snack options for a healthy diet.

You don’t have to spend hours in kitchen to put together a tasty and healthy meal. Especially for people who hardly get any time in the day to do anything apart from study and work, just taking care of these simple things will make you feel healthier.

Change And Brighten The Face Of The World Through International Studies

December 17, 2012 by tanha71

Knowing the happenings of the world through newspapers and media is essential for every person so that they are aware of where they live and what happens around. Nowadays with the growing demand of working in a diverse culture, knowledge of just the happenings is not enough. Also if you are going to be directly involved in jobs that contribute more to the country’s economy, a more deeper knowledge is required, to be successful. The course, “International Studies” offer such knowledge by providing an insight into various global societies, common problems that dominate politics and governments of various countries, ties and treaties that shape the relationships between countries, different cultures and languages. As the name “International Studies” suggests, to gain a better understanding of the subject, travelling becomes necessary. During this kind of travel, though we might possess a health coverage, it might not provide for emergency evacuation. This can be taken care of by possessing a medical evacuation repatriation insurance.

Earlier this course was integrated with the study of International Relations which focused more on inter-country relations. But with the emergence of International Studies as a separate subject of study, a deeper understanding of all the global issues affecting the nation could be achieved. This helps the students in understanding the real life situations and respond better. For those aspiring to get involved in politics, this course will definitely be a boon as it will throw light on various factors affecting the nation and help them handle the situations in a more intelligent way. It will also help them understand the culture and beliefs of their neighbouring countries and trading partners and help them build a harmonious relationship. International Studies also helps those involved in other fields by educating them on how to apply their knowledge of globalization and culture in an international environment because working in a foreign location is becoming more common and considered a part of the package.

Since travelling is an integral part of any career these days, we possess a basic health coverage by default. However in cases of extreme emergencies like a medical evacuation, possessing a medical evacuation repatriation insurance alone can help. It does not provide medical coverage but covers for medical evacuation and repatriation. This insurance can be availed by UTSA students enrolled on UTSA employee plan when he/she travels outside his/her home country.

Have You Decided On Your Source Of Money To Pay College Fees?

December 5, 2012 by tanha71

Getting admissions in US universities is a herculean task and one has to really toil harder to pass through. Once you get admissions, paying the tuition fees is yet another challenge for international students while it is comparatively lower for those residing in the same US state as the university. Financial aids are available in plenty but only for US citizens or US residents. Very few institutions offer scholarships for foreign nationals and even if you locate one, there will be a very tough competition for these. Certain companies like Scholarship Experts, NAFSA, etc., offer valuable information regarding scholarships for international students. However some schools do offer international student scholarships for exceptional international candidates. Above all of this, staying in a foreign country like US is very expensive and we just cannot afford overhead expenses like medical expenses, which is why it is wise to buy an international student health insurance while preparing for your stay there.

Though admissions are tough to acquire in US universities, these universities welcome the idea of admitting foreign students as they contribute very significantly monetary-wise through fees and also the colleges prefer to have a good mix of students from diverse culture and backgrounds. But as you get admission, you are also required to prove your financial capability of being able to pay the fees. As an alternative, you can opt for Advanced Placement Exams/Tests, if available in your country. This Advanced Placement Program offers an opportunity to do college-level work though you are just in high school. Getting a high score in these exams qualifies you to enter US college with an already acquired credit. This means that the credits acquired will reduce the number of years of study and quicken your graduation. If you are applying for scholarships as an international student with graduation or for teaching assistantships, scholarship may not be offered until you enter the second year of study. So it is almost like stumbling on the right stone to get financial aid readily.

While fighting for our educational financial aid, we should take care that we don’t have any other hurdles like sickness or injuries, that demands large expenses, bothering our weak wallet. This can be overcome with an international student health insurance which will take care of any injury and sickness if you are an UTSA student registered as an international student. It offers full coverage for treatments at UTSA health center and $100 deductible for treatments elsewhere.
