International students registered at UTSA can purchase the Patriot Exchange plan. The Patriot Exchange plan has been designed to meet the needs of international students or members of an exchange program. Members are usually on visas like F1/F2, or exchange visitors on J1/J2 visas. The plan meets State Department requirements for J1 visa holders. The confirmation of coverage letter is available immediately after online purchase.
The plan features:
- A choice of Policy Limits; $50,000, $250,000 and $500,000 for each injury or sickness
- Deductible of $0 if student if first treated at the UTSA student health center. Anywhere else the plan has a $100 deductible for each injury or sickness.
- The plan pays 100% of eligible expenses after the deductible
- The plan pays $50,000 for emergency medical evacuation
- The plan pays $25,000 for repatriation

The plan is underwritten by Sirius International and the claims are administered by International Medical Group in Indianapolis, IN.
Students can purchase the plan online and immediately obtain (online) their ID card and ‘Declaration of Coverage’ certificate. Besides, both these documents will be emailed and available for online download through the Client Zone.
